School Compact
Preamble:

ECEC's  purpose is to enable children and families to achieve the greatest possible degree of independence, dignity, and use of
strengths for personal fulfillment.  Our focus is on developmental growth and outcomes, rather than procedures and
regulations.

Our core beliefs include:

The structure of our organization is designed to nurture inspirations and reduce discouragements.
We include as elements:

  •  Never losing sight of our vision for children and families.
  •  A constant search for better methods, tools, and answers -- delving, inquiring, and being open.
  •  Ensuring that gripes and complaints become opportunities for solutions.
  •  Communicating to ensure that everyone has pertinent information and has opportunities to share their knowledge.
  •  Collaborating to devise new methods, to discover new insights, and to create new strategies by combining our
individual efforts into team energy.
  •  A style that encourages acceptance, trust, and respect among staff and the children and families we serve.
  •  Sharing the same philosophy, although we may be at different locations.

We believe ECEC is distinguished in its field by these characteristics:

  •  We do what we say we will do.  We do not confuse aspirations with what we can do.
  •  We establish a partnership among children, parents, and staff that fully uses the strengths of each contributor.
  •  Growth and achievement for children and families are at the heart of every ECEC activity; this commitment is
evident in our actions.
  •  We are proud of our good reputation with school districts.  We efficiently balance the importance of federal and
state procedural requirements with our commitment to children and families.
  •  We continually strive to consider, adapt, and change the classroom environment to meet both the individual
needs and unique groupings of our children.

A child is a child first and is viewed as a whole person.
No single approach fits everyone; individualized programs are essential.
A collaborative and interdisciplinary approach best taps individual knowledge and insight.
Each family is unique.
Parents are experts on their own children and full partners in our work.
Parents must have choices; independence is meaningless without options.
Children need people who care.
It is as important to ask questions as it is to answer questions.
Learning should be fun; a child learns through play.
" ...ECEC is able to keep it's
vision and it's devotion to
quality care and family
involvement."
